“Buffa” was born in Greenwood, South Carolina in 1916 and worked for the Abney family for over 60 years. She used her natural talent to cook good southern dishes for five generations, always trying new recipes.

Everyone loved Buffa’s cooking and nobody would turn down an invitation to one of her meals. Buffa, who had no children of her own, loved nothing better than to have “Miss Sally’s” granddaughter Carlette and her friends surrounding her while she worked. Carlette and her best friend Lide decided to preserve some of her recipes for future generations. This was often challenging since Buffa’s method was “a little bit of this and a little bit of that.”
